The Cupcake Solar System

As I said in an earlier entry, we are studying astronomy. And what better way to learn about the planets than making a cupcake solar system.


Note: Planets and distance between planets are not to scale.
Here are the inner planets. The sun is at the bottom of the picture and Mars with its two moons are at the top of the picture.

Saturn is on the left and Jupiter is on the right. The boys said that Saturn didn't look like Saturn without its rings. I told them that we should tell people that this is how Saturn will look in 2009 when telescopes on Earth won't be able to see the rings since Earth will be in line with the rings (true fact).

Uranus is on the left and that is Saturn again.

Pluto is on the left and Neptune is on the right. The children still want to count Pluto as a planet. They think that it got gyped.
