Fall is here

It is definitely fall around here. The trees are turning colors beautifully. I continue to try and capture on film the glorious color.

We had to harvest the last of the grapes to keep them from the hornets. I made grape syrup for our pancakes.

It is officially the end of summer. I used the very last of the zucchini to make a huge batch of zucchini bread and a zucchini chocolate cake.

Here's tomorrow's work. Tomorrow is applesauce day!

Never heard of zucchini chocolate cake. It looks delicious! What a sweet way to use up zucchini. :-)

It is delicious. Very moist. The children are always excited when they see me bake it. And as you say, it uses up zucchini!

what a great end to your season. That's a lot of apples from your trees, too! I made grape syrup once!

Those apples aren't from our trees. Maybe one year soon we'll get that much. We've had less this year than last year for some reason. We've mostly eaten ours. Those buckets of apples are from "the apple man" on Monroe.

I remember the apple man! He used to also cut my boys' hair (he owned that barbarshop across from McDee's.) Anyway, congratulations on an applesauce-job well done. Your filled jars are poetry to the eyes!
