We were invited to spend a couple of days at a friend's lake house last week. So up we went. We ate at a landmark restaurant in Beulah.

Their house was right on the lake and it was a joy to stay there. We could continually hear the sound of the waves breaking on the beach.

Stephen and Nathan helped by moving sand from the beach up to the jetty that our friend was slowly building.

We enjoyed several meals out on the deck.
We went to Point Betsie and looked at the lighthouse. We also found a chain link fence completely buried by the drifting sand dunes.

The next day we took a boat ride around the lake.

We also went up to Sleeping Bear Dunes. I climbed to the top of the dunes (or at least close to the top) with the children.

Then we ran back down!
And emptied a ton of sand out of our shoes!

I didn't get any pictures of it, but we did get to see a mother loon and her four babies the last morning that we were there. The children were very excited. They had never seen a real live loon before.
